Holiday Serve Opportunities - Acts of Love

Description:
Join our team of volunteers to spread Christmas cheer as you deliver Christmas gifts, toys, diapers and a smiling face to the families at Hollybrooks Apartments. This apartment complex is comprised of a lot of struggling hard working parents that Better Together currently serves. We want to show them the love of Jesus and remind parents of the resources we can provide through Better Together.

The ideal date for parties is before or during the last week of school before Christmas break and during weekday after-school hours and exact times can be coordinated with the Boys & Girls Club location.

Description:
Partner with Boys & Girls Club to throw a holiday party for the youth at one of their Boys & Girls Clubs locations. Typically, a party would consist of food and fun activities like a DJ, carnival games, bounce houses and/or Santa Clause. Volunteer groups will coordinate with Boys & Girls Clubs staff to plan and help host the party and related activities.

Description:
Serve with Salvation Army of NE FL as a Bell Ringer to help raise funds to provide shelter, meals and spiritual counseling to those in need in our community.

Description:
Partner with Salvation Army this holiday season to set up their annual Toy Shop for Angel Tree and join the distribution team to hand out the collected gifts on distribution day. What a great opportunity to be a part of blessing those in need!

Description:
The Bells of Angelwood are scheduled to play at Holly Jolly at the St. Johns Town Center in November. These adults living with intellectual and developmental differences that Angelwood serves will be shopping after the event. We invite you to partner with Angelwood as a buddy for the adults this holiday season!

Description:
Partner with One More Child as they prepare to share the love of Christ at Christmas through Operation Merry Christmas! Toys will be given to foster care families, single moms and homeless families. Volunteer opportunities involve wrapping gifts, decorating, setting up toys and working the shopping days.

Description:
At Christmas, Family Support Service works with community donors to provide toys for children in the foster care system. Serve alongside them during the week of December 5-9 by collecting and processing gifts given at various drop off locations.

The Humble Harvest is a yearly event where a field is filled with gifts for anyone who has need. Items on the field include: bibles, baby needs, food, clothing, toiletries, household products and Christmas gifts and toys! Description:
Partner with Better Together to bless families that are currently being served through either their mentor or host family program by donating gift cards and toys for ages birth-17 years old.

Description:
Hart Felt Ministries is in need of $25 gift cards to Publix or Walmart to distribute to seniors. The intent of Hart Felt's Christmas Program is to spread Christ's love with seniors during this special time of year. So many seniors in our community - even those who have family - are lonely. The Covid pandemic has increased isolation within our senior community. Receiving a card in the mail is a blessing and brightens their day!

Description:
Join us in gifting 150 dancers with a bracelet wallet, a gift card and a "I am Making a Way" journal. Over the years, we have heard from numerous dancers that our gifts are the only ones that they receive at Christmas. It is one way we are able to let them know they are seen, valued and loved. The gifts help open the door for conversations about the true meaning of Christmas and how much Jesus loves them.

Description:
Love on, serve and bless the survivors of human trafficking this upcoming holiday season by donating gifts for Christmas Baskets that will be delivered to them to open on Christmas Day.

Gift Ideas:
Possible gift item ideas: Devotionals, Toiletries, Christmas pajamas, Nail care kits, spa related items (self care), fuzzy blankets, purse, wallet, sunglasses, books, fun water bottles, gift cards for fun and field trips, movie passes, zoo tickets, bowling passes, etc. No candles allowed. No products with any alcohol content allowed (perfume, mouthwash, etc).

Description:
We invite you to donate new and gently used books, board games, puzzles, art supplies and treats for approximately 200 preschoolers through eighth graders in our community. These items will be their Christmas gifts, going home with the kids when the Christmas break starts.

Description:
Create a stocking for a pregnant new mom who is attending First Coast Women’s Services' Earn While You Learn Parenting classes. This is a great project that you and your disciple group can create together and then drop off at one of our five centers. Purchase a large stocking and fill it with some small essentials that a new mom would like including lotion, body spray, comfy socks, a devotional that a new believer may like, chapstick, a first Christmas ornament, and a personal card.

Description:
Donate new or gently used coats for children and adults to either Hopes Closet location during the month of December. The coats will be donated to foster families and ministry partners in the community. There will be a bin at the drive through and front walk in.

Description:
"Be An Angel" is a Family Support Services holiday program to provide gifts for the over 1,500 children in the foster care system in Jacksonville. Donors are needed in two ways: Financial Gifts (FSS team will shop) or Sponsors who will be given the 3 wishes for a child or children.

Description:
Come serve on the Northside or Arlington area of Jacksonville with a ministry that is strategically focusing on reaching and releasing children from poverty. Join us on Saturdays from 11am-2pm as we impact this community. Every Impact Day is different. You could be in an intense game of kickball, cleaning up the community, helping firing up the grill for their community cookout or just a powerful prayer walk. Description:
Join us as we bless our community with a drive-thru food drive. Just one hour of volunteer work generates exponential meals to feed our neighbors in need. When you give your time, you’re directly contributing to the livelihood of your neighbors. From sorting non-perishable goods in the warehouse to providing groceries at our mobile pantries, with every volunteer opportunity, you make a direct impact on the wellbeing of our community.

Description:
There is an urgency in our community for volunteers for senior adults. Many of them need that special someone to grocery shop, do some light housekeeping or even just companionship. A few seniors require help in lawn maintenance or wheel chair ramp building that would require a group of folks. If you would love to be a blessing to some special seniors, please sign up below.

Description:
Serve local foster families by providing freezer meals. Meals should be placed in disposable aluminum pans and marked with: the date prepared; contents (i.e. Lasagna, Chicken and Rice Casserole); baking time and temperature. The meals will be stored at One More Child and given to foster families who receive new placements, having court appointments.

Description:
Hadassah's Hope is a gospel-centered ministry reaching women working in strip clubs in and around Jacksonville, Florida. Hadassah's Hope is committed to ministering to women right where they are and pointing them to Jesus, who is our only hope. You can volunteer in many ways such as writing encouraging notes, providing meals, visiting the clubs and praying for the women there.

If you are passionate about seeing more women empowered to choose life for their unborn babies, we encourage you to connect with First Coast Women's Services!
You can plan a serve day to clean a center, participate in a baby bottle drive to raise funds, plan a baby shower to provide much-needed material support to the clients of the centers, assemble new believer bags or create baby layette sets. There are so many opportunities to serve both on-site and off-site.

Arize Together offers ongoing support to women who are committed to a healthy and healing lifestyle following treatment for sexual exploitation and addiction. Serve with Arize Together by providing encouragement and support to these women in a variety of areas.

Join the ramp team with Hart Felt ministries to build wheelchair ramps and help enrich the lives of seniors.
Prepare to bring along any hand tools/power tools that you may have as well as safety equipment, drinking water and lunch. Participants must be 18 years or older and sign a liability waiver prior to serving.
