Eleven22
Accessibility Statement.
How we build this site to be usable by everyone, and how to tell us when it is not.
Our commitment
The Church of Eleven22 wants everyone to be able to use this website. That includes people who browse with a screen reader, people who navigate by keyboard only, people with low vision or color blindness, people with cognitive or learning differences, and people using magnification, voice control, or captions. Accessibility is part of how we care for people, so we treat it as ongoing work rather than a box we check once.
The standard we are working toward
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as our target. We are not claiming that this site conforms to that standard today, and we hold no accessibility certification. Parts of this site meet the target, parts do not yet, and the list further down says which is which as best we know.
What this site actually does
These are built into the site itself. There is no accessibility widget, toolbar, or overlay on this site, and we do not ask you to turn anything on.
- Semantic HTML, so headings, lists, links, and buttons are announced as what they are. Every page has a single main heading and standard page regions for the header, navigation, main content, and footer.
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive control can be reached and operated with the keyboard, and the tab order follows the visual order of the page.
- Visible focus indicators. A 2px solid outline follows keyboard focus so you can always see where you are.
- Alt text on images. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Color contrast. We check text and background colors against the WCAG AA contrast ratios, and we do not use color alone to convey meaning.
- Named controls and labeled forms, so buttons and inputs announce their purpose rather than reading as blank.
- Responsive, resizable layouts that reflow for zoom, magnification, and small screens.
Where we fall short
We would rather tell you the truth than let you find these the hard way. Our most recent internal audit, run on 2026-05-12 with axe-core plus manual keyboard and screen reader checks across eight pages, found the following open issues. We are working through them.
- The newsletter email field in the footer has no label a screen reader can read. It is announced as an unlabeled edit field on every page.
- One of the search fields on the home page has no label, so it is also announced as an unlabeled edit field.
- Small body text, captions, and metadata use a gray that measures 4.43 to 1 against the page background. WCAG AA asks for 4.5 to 1, so this text narrowly fails on every page.
- There is no skip to main content link. Keyboard and screen reader users have to move through roughly fifteen navigation links before reaching the content of each page.
- Some headings skip a level rather than stepping down one at a time, which makes the heading outline harder to follow. This affects the footer on every page and the card sections on the visit and ministries pages.
- The announcement bar at the top of the page is marked as a second site banner, which duplicates a page region that should appear only once.
- On a few pages a small amount of content sits outside any labeled page region, so screen reader users cannot jump to it by region.
- On the sermons, Jesus, and kids pages, a complementary sidebar region is nested inside the main content region rather than sitting alongside it.
- Third party content we embed, such as giving, registration, and video players, is not fully under our control. We work with those vendors, and in the meantime we can help you complete anything you cannot finish online.
Tell us when something blocks you
If any part of this site is hard to use, or if you could not do something you came here to do, please tell us through our contact page. Ask your question there, and if the answer does not help, send it to a person; our communications team reads every message. We aim to reply within three business days. If you would rather talk to a person, call us at 904.685.6722. It helps if you can tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, but please reach out either way.
If something on this site keeps you from registering, giving, or getting connected, we will help you finish it another way. No one should miss out on the life of this church because of a website.
