Hanna Park · Atlantic Ocean

Beach Baptism.

We gather at Hanna Park and baptize our church family in the Atlantic. The ocean as our font. Pastors waist-deep. A crowd of witnesses on the sand.

A TraditionSince the early years

Hanna Park.
A thousand witnesses.

For more than a decade, Hanna Park has been our outdoor baptism home. What started as a small gathering on the sand has grown into the most photographed worship moment of our year.

Hundreds get baptized. Thousands worship on the sand. Pastors stand waist-deep in the Atlantic for hours. Families crowd the water's edge with towels. The whole movement of God in Northeast Florida shows up to celebrate new life.

What to ExpectThe morning of

From parking
to the plunge.

01
Arrive Early

Park offsite, ride the shuttle.

Everyone parks at one of our three offsite lots and rides a free shuttle in - those getting baptized, those serving, and those coming to celebrate. Lots and shuttles run from 10am to 7pm. Head for the shuttle as soon as Sunday service ends so traffic and crowds don't cost you the baptisms.

02
Check In

Check-in opens at 11am.

Check-in opens at 11am for everyone getting baptized. Baptisms are scheduled to begin around 2pm.

03
Get Baptized

Pastors are waiting in the water.

When it's your turn, walk into the ocean. A pastor will meet you waist-deep. You'll be asked one question: do you trust Jesus? Then you go under. Then you come up cheering.

04
Stay & Celebrate

Family and friends on the sand.

Bring your people. Pack the place out. Most baptisms have grandparents, kids, and neighbors cheering. There is nothing more worth celebrating.

Packing ListWhat to bring

Towel,
and faith.

01

Dark clothes

We provide a baptism t-shirt at check-in. Wear dark shorts or pants underneath. White t-shirts become see-through when wet.

02

A towel

You will be soaking wet. Bring a towel for yourself, and one for the car ride home.

03

Change of clothes

Pack a dry change. The ocean breeze plus wet clothes equals cold, even in spring. You'll thank us.

04

Sunscreen + water

Florida sun is no joke. We provide water, but bring your own bottle. Sunscreen up before you arrive.

06 / Common Questions

Ask us
anything.

Can't find your question? Email us. We'd rather answer in person than miss a single one.

01Why the beach instead of a baptismal?+
Most of our baptisms happen at campuses every weekend in regular baptismals. The beach is outdoors, in the ocean - a picture of the whole church gathered as one body to celebrate new life in Christ. It's also one of the only places we can baptize hundreds of people in a single gathering.
02Has Beach Baptism always happened at Hanna Park?+
Yes. Hanna Park has been our outdoor baptism home since the early years of Eleven22. Generations of our church family have been baptized in those waters.
03Do I have to be a member of Eleven22?+
No. If you've trusted Jesus, you can be baptized at the beach - whether you've been at Eleven22 for ten years or ten weeks. We just ask that you take the Baptism class first.
04What if it rains?+
Beach Baptism happens rain or shine. The only thing that cancels us is dangerous lightning. Watch our social channels and emails the morning of for any updates.
05Can my kids be baptized at the beach?+
Yes - as long as they personally trust Jesus and can articulate why. We'd love to talk it through with you and your child. Email [email protected] to start the conversation.
06I'm in a wheelchair or have mobility issues. Can I still come?+
Absolutely. Email us before the event and we'll coordinate. We have done waist-deep baptisms with a team helping support someone in the water. We'll make a way.
