Paul draws a hard line here by making it clear that you cannot serve both God and man. The true gospel says that in Christ you are approved, so if you seek the approval of man you are not believing the true gospel.

• What is the significance of Paul identifying Christians as “servants of Christ?”
• How have you forsaken the true gospel in order to please someone else?
• What fears are driving your pursuit to gain approval from others? What comparison is killing you? (You must bring those to Jesus and receive the grace and healing only He can give.)

Galatians 1:10

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Prayer

Lord, press into my heart the identity you have given me, not what the world says about me. Help me to bring my fears and comparisons to you so I can repent of those things and please heal the areas in my heart where I don’t believe the true gospel. Amen.
