Opening Thought (read out loud)

The angels’ message was simple but powerful: “Good news of great joy!” That joy came because God Himself entered the world through Jesus.

The baby in the manger grew up to be our Savior. He lived perfectly, died for our sins and rose again. That’s the true joy of Christmas—not presents or lights, but the presence of Jesus in our lives.

Family Discussion

• The angels called Jesus’s birth “good news of great joy.” What does that mean to you?

• How is joy different from happiness?

• Who is someone we can pray for together this Christmas who needs to experience Jesus’s joy?

Sit around the tree or your Advent wreath and ask: “What is the gospel?”
