Family Advent Devotional 2025

December 15, 2025

Theme: Sharing the good news
Read: Luke 2:8–20; Matthew 28:19–20

Opening Thought (read out loud)

The shepherds were ordinary people, doing an ordinary job—but God chose them to be the first to hear about Jesus’s birth! They didn’t wait for perfect words or a big stage. They just went and told everyone what they’d seen and heard.

God still works that way. He uses ordinary families—like ours—to share His extraordinary story. Our homes can be places where the good news is told and lived out every day.

Family Discussion

• Who first told you about Jesus? How did they help you believe?

• Why do you think God chose the shepherds to hear the good news first?

• Who could we invite to experience the joy of Christmas with us this year?

Do Together

As a family, choose someone to “adopt” for Christmas—a neighbor, a friend, a coworker or someone you’ve been praying for. Invite them to church or to your home for a meal.

Let your kids help come up with ideas—draw a card, bake cookies or hand-deliver an invite.

Then pray together: “God, help us share Your love and joy with others this week, just like the shepherds did.”
